CBN To Fund Research On Nigerian Coronavirus Vaccine

The Nigerian apex bank will be funding a research for a Nigerian Coronavirus vaccine. The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele made this known at the unveiling of THISDAY Dome testing, tracing, and treatment centre on Tuesday in Abuja. 

He said they are currently designing a framework which includes grants and long term facilities for “researchers, science institutions and biotechnology firms to develop the Nigerian Vaccine.”

Emefiele also revealed that the CBN recently launched a N100bn healthcare intervention fund and several initiatives such as the provision of one trillion naira facility for firms operating in the agriculture and manufacturing sectors, to cushion the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The CBN Governor said;

“Needless to state that if we are to wait for foreign countries to develop their own vaccines, we will be the last in the queue to receive curative remedies for our teeming population.

“Practitioners in the Pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors will be able to access finance at a single-digit rate through this fund.

“We are also working with financial institutions to enable the continuous flow of credit to viable businesses while putting in place provisions such as moratoriums and restructuring of existing loans under CBN intervention funds, that have been provided to businesses.”

12.6 Million Naira Lost Due To Fire Outbreak in CBN Office in Jos - Finance Minister



The Nigerian finance minister Mrs Zainab Ahmed has announced the loss of the national fund that was losses due to the Fire outbreak in Jos.
The information was announced on Tuesday 21st April 2020, in Abuja, after a report of a fire outbreak in CBN Office Jos.
Following the recent crash on Nigerian oil barrel price.
She also urged all Nigerians that “Nigerian is in a very big mess it is time to improve the country’s economy or the nation will be on a recession which could lead to massive hunger in the country”.
According to the finance minister She said;
The country is on a big mess right now, We Lost 12.6 Trillion Naira Over Fire outbreak In CBN Office In Jos
She also added that she has informed the state Commissioner of Police to investigate on the cause of the fire outbreak in CBN Office.

Fire Outbreak in CBN Jos Branch



The ravaging series of fire outbreaks in the country amid COVID-19 pandemic today hit a branch of Central Bank of Nigeria in Jos.

According to report, a branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria in Jos, Plateau State engulfed with fire in the early hours of today.

CBN revealed this in a tweet via its verified Twitter handle.

“Minor fire outbreak at the Jos branch of Central bank of Nigeria, promptly contained today, April 21, 2020,” the apex bank tweeted.

Recall On April 8, fire broke out at the Treasury House, a building housing the Accountant General of the Federation’s office, exactly a week after there was another fire outbreak at the headquarters of the Corporate Affairs Commission, while the Independent National Electoral Commission’s office in Abuja also went up in flames days after.
