Atiku’s Son Recovers from Coronavirus, Discharged From Isolation Centre After 40 Days

Mohammed, one of the sons of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has recovered from COVID-19.

Mohammed tested negative twice for coronavirus on Monday.

Atiku disclosed that he just received the good news and will be discharged from the Abuja Isolation center soon.

A close family friend to Mohammed confirmed this on his Twitter page @NecessaryCho.

Mohammed also retweeted the post on his Twitter handle.

Atiku’s son has been at Abuja isolation center since March 22nd after he tested positive to COVID-19.

The son of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Mohammed, has recovered from COVID-19 after 40 days of treatment.

Abubakar, in a statement last night, said his discharge could not have come at a better time than in the Ramadan, a season marked by sacrifice and supplication to the Almighty Allah.

He said: “I, Mohammed Atiku Abubakar, wish to inform Nigerians that I have finally been cleared and discharged after 40 days of coronavirus (Covid19) treatment.

“I thank the Almighty Allah for my recovery from the dreaded infection and also wish to express my sincerest and deepest appreciation to Nigerians for their prayers and goodwill while I was being treated.

“In the course of life, we have no idea of what will happen to us because only the Almighty God knows our future. When the coronavirus first broke out in far away China, I had no idea that I might be one of those to be infected. This is one of the everlasting lessons I can’t forget for the rest of my life. Indeed, I have been humbled by this experience. Words cannot sufficiently convey the depth of my joy over my recovery and discharge.

“Since I tested positive after my return from abroad and my isolation for treatment, I was inundated with incredible expressions of goodwill by Nigerians. This pandemic has united the rich and the poor and, indeed, the rest of the world against this novel lethal virus that has caused economic and social disruptions globally.

“No matter our problems, however, we shouldn’t lose hope in our own country. Despite the limitations of our health system, the Federal Ministry of Health and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control have done tremendously well, despite these daunting challenges. Our doctors, nurses and other front line health workers also deserve accolades for their sacrifices and professionalism during this challenging period of our country.”

BREAKING: Kwara State Discharged 7 Covid-19 Patients

The Kwara state government has discharged seven patients of coronavirus infection in the state.

Kwara State Government on Wednesday discharged two of its four COVID-19 patients after they have both twice tested negative.

The State Governor, His Excellency, Gov.  Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, disclosed this on Thursday at the state isolation centre.
“They have been tested twice and it has been confirmed that they are negative. They are very happy .They thanked the state government for tbe efforts si far” the governor added.

They were discharged alongside five members of their families who were also at the state's isolation centre and have equally twice tested negative, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq told reporters in Ilorin, the state capital.

AbdulRazaq reiterated that testing positive for the virus is not a crime as anyone could contract it. He warned against stigmatisation of COVID-19 patients or their families.

"I’m glad to announce to you that we are discharging a total of seven persons from our isolation facility," AbdulRazaq told journalists.

"Among these are our first two (index) cases (a male and a female) who have twice tested negative for COVID-19.

"The remaining five are members of their families who were on quarantine and have also twice tested negative to the virus.

"With the exit of the seven persons, we have 11 persons left in the facility. Two of these 11 are COVID-19 patients while the remaining nine are people with varying contacts with them.

"We commend our health workers for their professionalism and commitment. We assure them of our support now and always. We are working out incentives for every health worker at this facility to deepen their confidence in the system that we will always look after them.

"Our two remaining patients are in the best spirit and are doing pretty good. We wish them quick recovery.

"Government restates that COVID-19 is not a death sentence. Government will punish anyone who stigmatises any of our patients or members of their families.

"The government is proud of all the people of Kwara State for their support and understanding at this time of lockdown. It is to flatten the curve of transmission and save all of us from this pandemic."

AbdulRazaq, who had a brief off-camera discussion with the former patients after they consented to such, commended them for cooperating with the government and said the people of the state stand by them always.

"No matter how good a hospital is, it cannot have the comfort or other things of our homes. So we are glad that you are fine and we wish you all the best," he told the former patients and their family members who were in great spirit.

The former patients, in turn, commended the government for putting in place "such a good facility" and for the care, and the health workers for their professionalism in attending to them.

As at Thursday morning, Kwara has just two cases while test results are awaited for 43 samples.

"Kwara has run a total of 85 tests -- out of which four returned as positive". Rafiu Ajakaye Chief Press Secretary to the Governor  made this known
